Nights are drawing in, lights coming on earlier and heating inevitably having to be switched on soon. The impact is of course a further spike in energy costs.

The good news is that you can reduce your energy use by various methods, smart home technology being one.
Smart plugs and Switches: Easy on the pocket and simple to install, smart plugs and switches can be as straightforward as buying a plug that your device (lamp, TV etc) plugs into and then plugs into the wall socket. You then have a bit of setting up to do so it connects to your WiFi. From there you can use the inbuilt App or something like your Alexa App or Apple Homekit, to create routines. Routines will allow you to set the device to come on and conversely go off at set times, or even even more creatively when you leave the house using geolocation.
Smart thermostats: Smart Stats are now becoming really affordable way to get control over your heating costs. Available all across the internet, Smart Stats have been around now for quite a few years’. The market leaders for a standard home are the likes of Hive and Nest. There are however many other players and types of smart stat in the market now, you can even fit individual smart stats to radiators with one of the market leaders being Tado.
